Elim Agricultural Supply

Sartted in World War 2

I recently held an interview with Mr. Vitzler Bulawin, Manager of Elim Agricultural Supply Cagayan de Oro City. The Elim Agricultural supply company provides both services and goods. The business has been in operation for decades now, rising to become the leading distributor in the region. In the early 1945’s, they started supplying raw coconut to San Miguel. San Miguel Corporation is the Philippines’ largest beverage, food, and packing company. Supplying raw coconut on the said company started during World War 2, that jumpstart the business and after 50 years, San Miguel Products was engaged into local distribution then the company start to grow because all of San Miguel subsidiaries companies appointed the company to the local distributor for the whole Northern Mindanao except for Zamboanga City. Its corporate strategy is at aimed capitalizing on new growth markets through acquisitions and further enhancing its competitive position by improving synergies across existing operational lines. The company has significantly expanded its participation in both its core businesses of food, beverage and packaging, and etc. They proactively reaches out to others to bring forth change that will enable communities to live better lives.

In a year that saw the world reel from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Elim Agricultural supply along with San Miguel mounted a nationwide response to help the country get through the worst of the crisis. The Covid-19 crisis disproportionately affected millions of Filipinos living below the poverty line, multiplying the burden on daily wage earners and those already struggling to make ends meet. Despite the pandemic's significant impact on their businesses, they (San Miguel and its distributors including Elim Agricultural supply) mounted one of the largest private sector responses to the crisis: converting their liquor facilities to produce disinfectant alcohol which was then distributed by its subsidiaries including Elim Agricultural Supply; they also launched a food donation drive that, by year’s end, amounted to over half a billion pesos; providing much-needed assistance to our medical sector, and ensuring the job security of our 70,000-strong workforce. In a year that was incredibly challenging from an operational and financial standpoint, their overall performance in 2020 reflects both the impacts of the pandemic and the resilience and strength of their businesses.
